How Did The Trash Get There?
How The Trash Got There
Obviously, the trash didn't just magically appear in the middle of the ocean. So how did it end up there? People are careless with their trash a lot, and they litter. This litter ends up in rivers, lakes, etc. From there, the plastic goes with the current, leading it into the ocean. The oceans current pushes the plastic further into the ocean, and many different currents push the trash into a general area. The plastic doesn't come from one specific place. The plastics next to each other could be from varying countries, or states. Most of the trash in the oceans comes from Asia. Countries such as China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
